KYC's after-school program has been running since 2016. In those years, we have already seen some the fruits of our labors: we've had former scholars graduate high school and college then return to help; current scholars have moved from failing classes to passing them; all scholars have improved their sense of self-worth.
-
We run our program four days a week- Monday through Thursday- and have a multitude of activities for our scholars. From more intellectual pursuits (such as chess and sign language) to recreational activities (such as cooking and craft-making) to service-based activities (such as our annual Blessings in a Box event and mentoring younger students), KYC scholars have opportunities to learn about and explore their interests and even possible career paths!

Being located in Amityville doesn't mean we only have Amityville scholars. We have participants from Copiague, Massapequa, and Wyandanch. We've had scholars as far west as Hempstead and Freeport and as far east as Bay Shore! In short, all students from grades 3 and above are welcome to join our program!
We provide volunteer opportunities from high schoolers looking to earn community service. We welcome adult volunteers as well.
